Description

'Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal' - declared the US Supreme Court in the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education case, unanimously ruling that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. While hailed as progress for civil rights in America, it was a disaster for tens of thousands of black teachers who'd been working in segregated schools.
