Daddy of the Underworld — The Arun Gawli Story | 2D Animation

This documentary tells the complete, fact-based story of Arun Gulab Gawli — the milkman's son from Dagdi Chaal who became one of Mumbai's most feared underworld dons, and later, a sitting MLA in the Maharashtra Assembly. From the textile mill strikes that destroyed Bhaykhala's working class, to his entry into the Bhaykhala Company gang, his deadly alliance and eventual war with Dawood Ibrahim, the 1992 JJ Hospital massacre, his transformation into a political "Daddy" backed by Shiv Sena, and his final downfall under MCOCA — this is the full, untold saga of a man who ruled Mumbai's streets, sat in its Parliament, and ended his story behind bars. Key Topics Covered in This Video: Arun Gawli's early life in Dagdi Chaal and the Bombay Textile Mill Strike Formation of Bhaykhala Company and its alliance with Dawood Ibrahim The killing of Mannya Surve and Samad Khan — Pathan gang's downfall The Jogeshwari land dispute that broke Gawli's friendship with Dawood The murders of Rama Naik, Babu Reshim, and Gawli's own brother Pappa Gawli The 1992 JJ Hospital attack and Ismail Parkar's murder Gawli's rise as "Daddy," Shiv Sena's support, and his MLA win in 2004 The Jamsandekar murder, MCOCA conviction, and his 2025 release Why This Story Matters: Arun Gawli's story is not just about one gangster — it's about a Mumbai that mill closures broke, unemployment scarred, and a failed system pushed toward street justice. It's the story of how poverty, loyalty, and betrayal can turn an ordinary boy into a feared don — and how power, once tasted, can blind even the smartest men to their own downfall. This is history written in blood, ambition, and consequence — a mirror to a city that built empires on both sides of the law.
