Cat Squirrel Tree Trunk Chase!

Original video credit: IG/tiayrina This squirrel and cat seem locked in a strange game of chase around a tree. But the squirrel may be using the trunk as cover, constantly adjusting its position to avoid the cat. Watching this tense interaction offers a fascinating look at natural animal defense tactics. When pursued by predators or curious pets, squirrels rely on a strategy called spiral maneuvering. By placing the width of a tree trunk directly between themselves and a potential threat, they effectively block line of sight while remaining positioned for a quick escape into high branches. Their sharp claws and flexible ankle joints allow them to cling to bark and pivot seamlessly around trunks at high speeds. This agile movement keeps them just out of reach while forcing their pursuer to continually expend energy trying to reposition.
