Geckos Enjoying Fresh Watermelon Slice!

Original video credit: IG/lizzies4eva Not all lizards eat just insects! Some species are omnivores and eat fruits and other plant foods. Juicy fruits like watermelon provide moisture and natural sugars that give them energy. Watching reptiles enjoy fresh produce highlights the diverse dietary requirements found across different species. In their natural habitats, many omnivorous and frugivorous lizards forage for fallen fruit, nectar, and sweet vegetation to supplement their diet. Consuming water rich fruits allows them to maintain essential hydration in warm environments while acquiring quick carbohydrate energy. To consume soft fruits, lizards use specialized broad tongues to lick up sweet juices and soft flesh. This licking behavior enables them to extract hydration efficiently without needing strong chewing mechanisms. #NatureIsWild #Animals #Insects #Wildlife #Shorts
