Description

Original video credit: IG/mantis_the_cat_one This kitten has an unusual appearance, with two distinct coat colors dividing its face and eyes of different colors. While both features involve pigmentation, they develop through different biological processes. A cat's coat color is determined by genetics and the distribution of pigment producing cells. Some cats develop striking patterns when different populations of cells contribute different colors to their fur. However, appearance alone cannot reveal the exact genetic cause of this kitten's pattern. The kitten also has heterochromia, a condition in which the eyes have different colors. This occurs when the amount or distribution of melanin differs between the irises. In cats, heterochromia is often associated with white spotting and certain coat color genetics. Although this combination of features is visually striking, it does not necessarily indicate a health problem. Cats with heterochromia can have normal vision, and differences in eye color do not automatically mean their eyesight is affected. #NatureIsWild #Animals #Insects #Wildlife #Shorts
