Description
1970s Peanut Butter Cookies — a vintage recipe with one secret ingredient that adds a light, crispy crunch to every bite.
Somebody in my house loves peanut butter cookies, so when I found this vintage recipe from the 1970s, I knew we had to try it. I grew up in the seventies and eighties and somehow never had these — but one simple ingredient you may already have in your pantry gives them a light little crunch that sticks around longer than you'd think. It's a small batch made with simple ingredients, and I think your family will love them too.
Did you guess the secret ingredient before I added it? Tell me in the comments!

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened to room temperature
1/2 cup granulated white sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda (not baking powder)
1 1/4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
QUICK NOTES:
Fold the cereal in by hand at the very end so it doesn't get crushed.
Scoop the dough first, then chill it for about 1 hour.
Bake at 350°F for 9 to 11 minutes. I gave mine the full 11.
