Description
Cheddar Bay Skillet Bread — cheesy, garlicky, buttery bread baked in one iron skillet in about 30 minutes.
Soup and stew season needs a really good bread, and this one is so quick. It's all the flavor of those garlic cheese biscuits you love, but instead of scooping out every biscuit, you pour it all into a hot, buttered iron skillet and brush the top with a garlic herb butter. Crispy on the bottom, soft and cheesy in the middle, and everybody will think you spent a long time on it.
INGREDIENTS:
• 1¾ cups Bisquick (baking mix)
• 2 to 3 teaspoons sugar
• 1½ cups freshly shredded cheddar cheese, plus a little extra for the top
• 1 cup milk
• 1 egg
• 1 tablespoon butter (for the skillet)
GARLIC HERB BUTTER:
• 4 tablespoons butter, melted
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
• ½ teaspoon onion powder
Bake at 400°F in a 10-inch iron skillet. Mine was done in 17 minutes. Your oven may need 20 to 25, so check it early.
