Description
Beneath a pyramid at Nuri, Sudan, divers entered King Nastasen’s 2,300-year-old flooded tomb. Beyond its submerged entrance lay three burial chambers—and traces of a royal burial that the water had not completely erased.
This documentary follows the Nuri Archaeological Expedition’s investigation of the Kushite king’s resting place, led by archaeologist Pearce Paul Creasman. Discover why the team used surface-supplied air, what they encountered around the stone sarcophagus, and how fragile finds in the sediment raised a bigger question: had the flooding helped protect the tomb from looters?
We examine the surviving burial objects, the earlier excavation, and the evidence behind the expedition’s extraordinary discoveries. The story draws on the dives begun in 2019 and subsequent reporting.
What would convince you that a flooded royal tomb had largely escaped looting? Share your interpretation below.
