Description
Engineers literally freeze the ground for years before mining uranium here. 🤯
At Cigar Lake in Canada, weak water-filled rock surrounds one of the world’s highest-grade uranium deposits.
So engineers drill hundreds of deep holes, circulate extremely cold liquid underground, freeze the groundwater into a solid mass — and only then begin mining from tunnels nearly 1,600 feet below the surface.
And the way they actually cut the uranium is even crazier.
