Description

They pull water from nearly 1,000 feet beneath this lake… just to extract the fuel hidden inside it. 🤯 Deep inside Lake Kivu, methane remains dissolved under enormous water pressure. A floating plant brings that water upward, separates the gas and sends the methane through a 13 km pipeline to produce electricity for Rwanda. One of the strangest energy systems operating anywhere in the world.
