In today's video, I react to Decoy's "Rioting finally has consequences" covering the worsening unrest in France and the increasingly ridiculous treatment of the police.
Let's be clear about something from the beginning:
The rioters are the problem.
These aren't peaceful protesters exercising their rights. We're talking about people setting fires, destroying property, attacking police officers, throwing dangerous projectiles, and turning parts of French cities into violent battlefields. French authorities have reported thousands of arrests and millions of euros in damage connected to the unrest.
And yet somehow, the conversation keeps turning toward the police.
That's what I find insane.
The police are the people being sent into these situations to restore order.
They're the ones standing between violent rioters and everyone else.
They're the ones expected to protect businesses, homes, public buildings, and peaceful civilians while people are throwing objects, starting fires, and attacking them.
If someone commits a crime during a riot, that person is responsible for the crime.
Not the police officer trying to stop them.
And this is where France needs to be extremely careful.
There absolutely should be consequences when an officer genuinely commits an unjustified assault or uses unlawful force. Police aren't above the law.
But investigating legitimate police actions shouldn't become a political weapon against law enforcement as a whole.
French authorities have opened 18 investigations into alleged police misconduct during the unrest, including cases involving seriously injured protesters, and one officer has been preliminarily charged in connection with an injury.
Fine.
Investigate genuine misconduct.
But where is the same outrage for the people burning things down?
Where is the same urgency for people attacking officers?
Where is the concern for ordinary citizens who have to live through the chaos?
A government cannot expect police officers to maintain order while simultaneously making them afraid that doing their jobs will turn them into the next political target.
That is how you destroy morale.
And once police stop believing their government will support them when they confront violent criminals, everyone loses.
France needs to send a very simple message:
Peaceful protest is protected. Violent rioting is not.
You can criticize the government.
You can demonstrate.
You can march.
But once you start burning buildings, attacking people, destroying property, and assaulting police officers, the state has every right—and responsibility—to stop you.
The police shouldn't have to apologize for enforcing that line.
They should be supported for doing it.
In this video, I react to Decoy's coverage, discuss the growing violence in France, and talk about why governments need to stand behind their police when officers are confronting violent unrest.
Because a country that punishes the people trying to restore order while making excuses for the people destroying it...
...is sending a disastrous message
