Description
Almost every emergency pantry list online is written for a family of four, and almost nobody lives in one anymore. The list that makes sense for one person is nearly useless for seven.
The differences go well beyond quantity. A single person needs small single-serving packages, because a large tin opened with no refrigeration is mostly waste. A large family needs water storage on a scale that becomes a genuine problem, plus a safe outdoor way to cook.
And the most dangerous gap is different in each. A big household has one advantage nobody lists: somebody will notice if anyone is in trouble. A person living alone has nobody, which is why the most important item in a single person's plan is a daily check-in arrangement rather than food.
In this video: twelve differences, covering water, warmth, medication, infants and elderly relatives, pets, variety, rotation, sanitation, cash, and the written plan. Plus why seven people in one room keep it warm and one person alone in a cold house loses heat fast.
