Description

Every Sunday this fall, my neighbor Ted spends well over a hundred dollars on pizza and wings for the ten or twelve people who watch football in his living room. Last Sunday I told him to cancel the order. I brought thirty eight dollars and sixty three cents of beef, and ten people ate until the fourth quarter. I am Earl. Thirty one years behind the meat counter, and more football Sundays than I can count. The whole game day food plan, from the shopping to the fourth quarter. Two packages from the regular meat case. What to do on Saturday night so Sunday is almost free. A hot queso dip with ground beef that was half gone before the first commercial. Twenty four smash burger sliders with the diner sauce every burger joint uses. And the cheap cut, a bone in chuck roast, that went into the slow cooker before sunrise and turned into shredded beef sandwiches that stole the show at halftime. The same plan works for a tailgate, a playoff game or a Super Bowl party. My first game day spread, I cooked everything on Sunday and missed a touchdown, a fumble and most of the second quarter. That is how I learned the night before rule. If you have not seen the jerky video, watch it next: how one roast turns into a big jar of beef jerky for half the price of the little bags by the register. Nobody paid me for this. There is nothing here to buy. I do not work for any store or any brand. Your homework: this Sunday, try just one of the three. The dip, the sliders, or the slow cooker chuck. Then tell me in the comments which one you made and how fast it disappeared. --- About this channel: this is a fully owned and operated media property.
