Description

The Woman Who Rejected Prince Charles Twice—Then Walked Out of Windsor Castle Subscribe to the channel: @LostGrandeurUK In 1979, a 23-year-old landowner's daughter named Anna Wallace became the woman the whole country expected Prince Charles to marry. Within a year he had reportedly proposed twice, and twice she had said no. In June 1980, at a ball inside Windsor Castle for the Queen Mother's 80th birthday, Charles spent the evening dancing with the married Camilla Parker Bowles and left Anna standing among the guests. She crossed the floor, told him she had never been treated so badly in her life, and walked out. By 2 December 1980 she had married another man, months before Charles's engagement to Diana was even announced. Then she disappeared from the story, and for more than 40 years she has never said a word. Subscribe to the channel: @lostgrandeuruk In this video, we tell the full story of the woman who refused a future king, including her life as the fearless rider they called Whiplash Wallace, the Wallace family seats at Old Corrimony and Little Wyrley Hall, the near-decade attachment to Camilla that Anna refused to accept, the humiliation at Stowell Park, the walkout at Windsor Castle, the Highland world of Balmoral and its Ghillies Ball, her lightning marriage into the Hesketh racing dynasty, and the forty-year silence she has kept ever since. 🔔 Subscribe so the next lost house, and the people who walked away from it, always find you. 💬 Comment where you're watching from and tell us: was Anna Wallace right to walk out on Prince Charles? 📢 Share this on Facebook, Reddit, or wherever you talk history.
