Description

📘 Get the guide → The exact forms, phone scripts, and deadlines Social Security, Medicare, your bank & the IRS never explain in plain English: https://www.franklinlaw.shop There's an envelope that has to be in your hands by September 30, and it's the most expensive piece of mail you'll get all year. Most people throw it away. If you do nothing about what's inside it, everything in it happens to you automatically on January 1st, and you're locked in for 12 months. But here's what every other video this autumn gets wrong. They'll tell you there's one window, seven weeks, and if you miss it you're trapped. That's not true. There are seven doors out of a Medicare plan that isn't working for you. Most stay open far longer than anyone tells you, two of them are open right now regardless of the calendar, and most people don't know five of them exist. There is, however, one decision that locks behind you and may never open again. I'm Kevin. I don't sell plans and I earn nothing from what you choose. Here's the whole set of keys. 🔹 THE ENVELOPE, IN 10 MINUTES: It's 40 pages, and only five things matter. Your premium, your deductible and copays, the drug list, the network, and your annual out-of-pocket maximum. Find those five and you've done more than almost anyone who receives it. 🔹 WHY THE DEFAULT IS THE TRAP: Do nothing and you aren't dropped. You're rolled into next year's version of your plan with every change applied. People say they've been in the same plan for six years. Usually they've been in six versions of a plan and agreed to all of it by not opening an envelope. 🔹 WHAT CAN HAPPEN TO YOUR MEDICATIONS: Removal, a tier jump, prior authorization, or step therapy, plus the protected drug categories that limit what plans can do mid-year. 🔹 SEVEN DOORS: The October 15 to December 7 window, the January 1 to March 31 second chance, the five-star switch available December 8 through November 30, life-event special periods, the year-round Extra Help and Medicare Savings Program applications (which open a window of their own), plus trial rights and plan-exit guaranteed issue. 🔹 THE ONE LOCK: Why moving into a plan is always easy, moving back can be too, and buying the supplement that makes the alternative work may not be. 🔹 THE 20-MINUTE KEY: Running your real drugs and real pharmacy through the official plan finder, why two plans with the same premium can be $1,000 apart, and the free state counselors who sell nothing. 🔹 RIGHTS ALMOST NOBODY USES: Expedited appeals, the transition supply that stops you paying retail in January, the exception request, and SSA-44 for a Part B surcharge based on income you no longer have. 💡 BOTTOM LINE: Door one closes December 7 and it's the widest, so use it if you can. But missing it doesn't cost you the year. Seven doors, one lock. The only real mistake is believing there was ever just one. 📅 DATES THAT MATTER: Annual Notice of Change must reach you: by September 30 Open enrollment: October 15 – December 7 Changes take effect: January 1 Medicare Advantage open enrollment: January 1 – March 31 Five-star plan switch: December 8 – November 30 📞 FREE HELP (NOBODY SELLING ANYTHING): Official plan finder: medicare.gov Medicare: 1-800-633-4227 Free, independent state counseling (SHIP): shiphelp.org Part B surcharge appeal: form SSA-44 | ssa.gov SOURCES: Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; Medicare.gov enrollment and appeals rules; state Medigap guaranteed-issue provisions. Rules and figures are current at the time of recording and vary by state and plan. 🔔 SUBSCRIBE for plain-English breakdowns of Medicare, Social Security, and the quiet rules that decide what seniors actually keep. ⚠️ DISCLAIMER: This video is for general educational purposes only and is not insurance, medical, tax, or financial advice. I am not an insurance agent, I do not sell plans, and I earn nothing from what you choose. Plans, networks, costs, and state protections vary widely. Confirm your own situation with Medicare.gov, your plan documents, or your free SHIP counselor before making any decision. 👨‍👩‍👧 SHARE WITH FAMILY: Send this to anyone on Medicare. The envelope they need is probably still on the counter. #Medicare #MedicareOpenEnrollment #MedicareAdvantage #PartD #Medigap #SeniorFinance #Retirement #AnnualNotice #MedicarePlanFinder #ExtraHelp #Seniors #FixedIncome
