Description

Two Spam recipes, 40 years apart; a 1940s Baked Spam loaf and Hawaii's Spam Musubi recreated by hand. During World War II, 150 million pounds of Spam fed Allied armies and the soldiers hated every bite. By the 1980s it became a beloved island staple. Today we're cooking both and tasting the redemption arc. Spam would later become the star of the show in a hilarious 2005 Broadway musical called Spamalot earning 14 Tony Award nominations and winning 3. The musical was fully endorsed by Hormel who was a major sponsor of the musical. Today's episode has a Spam filled history. #ForgottenRecipes #FoodHistory #Nostalgia #Spam #musubi #WWII #IronSpoonKitchen
