Description
This is an instrumental version remake of the song “Octavianus Augustus Caesar” This instrumental has an added instrument: the flute, more specifically the double reed pipe.
Augustus was not born a Caesar, he was made one, forged in the fire of a civil war he did not start but refused to lose, by a boy of eighteen who inherited a dead man's name and used it to conquer an empire.
In 63 BC, Gaius Octavius was born into a modest senatorial family in the hill town of Velitrae. He was nothing remarkable until his great-uncle, Julius Caesar, took notice of him. When Caesar was assassinated on the Ides of March in 44 BC, his will named the eighteen-year-old Octavius as his adopted son and heir. Octavius took the name Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus and returned to Rome to claim it, whether Rome wanted him to or not.
This is his origin.
Where a legion earns its name on the battlefield, Octavian earned his through blood, alliance, and betrayal. He joined Mark Antony and Lepidus in the Second Triumvirate, hunted down Caesar's assassins Brutus and Cassius, and crushed them at Philippi in 42 BC. He sidelined Lepidus, then turned on Antony, now entangled with Cleopatra of Egypt. At the naval Battle of Actium in 31 BC, Octavian's fleet, commanded by Agrippa, broke Antony and Cleopatra's forces for good. A year later both were dead, and Egypt belonged to Rome.
In 27 BC, the Senate granted him a new name: Augustus, "the Revered One." He called himself only Princeps, First Citizen, yet he held the legions, the treasury, and the fate of Rome in one hand. He is remembered as the ruler who found Rome built of brick and left it built of marble, who closed the doors of the Temple of Janus as a sign that the wars, at last, were over. He reigned for over forty years, until his death in AD 14, and the empire he built would outlive him by centuries.
Augustus, first Emperor of Rome. The man who ended the Republic to save it.
This is an instrumental remake of my original Augustus track, entirely re-scored without vocals, letting the drums, strings, and brass carry the weight of Rome's first Emperor on their own. Built with the help of modern AI and human editing.
