Description

Hidden in the bushland south of Sydney lies one of Australia's forgotten cemeteries. Garrawarra Cemetery, also known as the Waterfall Consumptive Hospital Cemetery, is the final resting place of more than 2,000 people who came seeking treatment for tuberculosis during the early 20th century. In this video, we explore the history of the Waterfall Sanatorium, the devastating impact of the White Plague, and the deeply personal stories of three young men whose lives ended far too soon. Through historic (colour-enhanced) photographs, restored images, and a walk among the headstones, this is a journey into a remarkable place where every grave tells a story, and where remembering those stories ensures they are never truly forgotten. Note: Since publishing this video, I've learned the cemetery has no public access. Including the families of people that are buried here.
