EVERY PLAGUE OF EGYPT EXPLAINED - AND THE GOD EACH ONE WAS ATTACKING

Most people think the ten plagues of Egypt were ten random disasters God threw at Pharaoh. They weren't. Every single plague was a direct, targeted strike on a specific Egyptian god — and the Bible says so outright in Exodus 12:12: "on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments." This wasn't weather. It was war. Egypt worshiped everything — the Nile, the frogs, the earth, the cattle, the sky, the sun, and Pharaoh himself as a living god. So one by one, in order, God went down the list and dismantled their entire pantheon, climbing from the bottom of their religious system all the way to the top. Here's every plague, in order, and the god it was sent to destroy: • Plague 1 — The Nile to blood → Hapi, god of the Nile • Plague 2 — Frogs → Heqet, goddess of life • Plague 3 — Gnats from the dust → Geb, god of the earth (the magicians say "this is the finger of God") • Plague 4 — Flies → Khepri, the beetle god (and God draws the first line between Egypt and Israel) • Plague 5 — Livestock die → Hathor and Apis, the cattle gods • Plague 6 — Boils → the gods of healing (the magicians can't even stand) • Plague 7 — Hail and fire → Nut and Shu, the sky gods (and a door of mercy opens) • Plague 8 — Locusts → the harvest gods (Egypt's own officials say the nation is ruined) • Plague 9 — Darkness → Ra, the sun god, Egypt's highest deity • Plague 10 — Death of the firstborn → Pharaoh, the god on the throne Watch the line God kept drawing. From the fourth plague on, the plagues fell on Egypt and stopped cold at the border of Goshen, where His people lived. Natural disasters don't sort people by whose God they belong to. These did. That's God signing His name on the judgment: this is not weather — this is Me, and I know exactly who is Mine. And it all lands on the tenth plague — the blood of a spotless lamb on the door, and death passing over everyone the blood covered. That's not just the end of the Exodus. It's the beginning of the gospel. The New Testament calls Jesus our Passover Lamb. Egypt trusted a whole pantheon of gods, and every one of them fell. Israel trusted the blood of a lamb, and walked out free. And you live in a world full of gods too — money, success, image, control, self — every one of which will fail you the way Egypt's did. There is only one God who was still standing when the smoke cleared. 📖 Chapters / timestamps below. 🔔 Subscribe for more deep-dive Bible studies — the Bible is deep, it doesn't have to be complicated.
