Description

I spent 100 days alone by a forest river building a bushcraft wood house from the ground up — stone foundation, timber walls, moss roof, deep winter outside the whole time. The foundation went in first — dry-laid fieldstone pulled from the riverbank, set level by hand into the frozen ground. Timber walls framed and raised above it, tight enough to hold heat when the temperature dropped. The roof got a thick layer of natural moss, the same insulation this kind of shelter has always used — heavy, weatherproof, and invisible from a distance. The river was everything out here: water, food, the sound that filled the silence between work sessions. 100 days of winter, one bushcraft house built to survive it.
