Description

Your playbook for doing business in Asia : https://statrys.com/youtube?v=XxpvOAoMGZI Open a business account: https://statrys.com/getstarted?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=organic_video&utm_campaign=youtube_description&utm_content=XxpvOAoMGZI Indonesia 00:00 Introduction 01:12 The country that had already won 03:19 The exit 05:49 The number nobody believes 09:50 Locking the doors 12:48 The other side of the bet 14:08 What happens next A few weeks ago, police raided a house in Jakarta. They found 74 kilos of gold bars and 26 million dollars in cash. The owner was the country's top anti-corruption prosecutor. That raid landed in the middle of something much bigger. The rupiah just hit the weakest level in its entire history, worse than 1998. The Jakarta stock market has lost more than a quarter of its value. Foreign funds pulled 8.9 billion dollars out. Indonesians moved out three times more than that. Officially, the economy is still growing above 5%. Every quarter. Boom years, crisis years, always 5%. The smartest money in Asia has stopped believing that number. So the government made its choice. Instead of rebuilding trust, it started locking the doors so the money can't get out. Exporters can no longer touch their own dollars. Companies went from a 100,000 dollar limit to 10,000. In this video I explain what is really happening in Indonesia, why the people who know this country best are the ones running the fastest, and the one signal that tells you which way it goes long before any official admits it. #Indonesia #Rupiah #probowo
