In New Jack City, Nino Brown's crew runs what he calls a million-dollar-a-week crack business. In 1988, TIME magazine reported that a real crew in Detroit was raking in three million dollars a week: four brothers from Marianna, Arkansas, the Chambers brothers. Prosecutors said up to three million a day. A federal appeals court recorded trial testimony of as much as two hundred thousand a day. Some people call them the real New Jack City.
