Description

When The Beatles released Abbey Road in September 1969, other artists were already recording and releasing their own versions of songs from the album. In fact, some of these covers appeared incredibly quickly — and in one particularly remarkable case, a cover was released a full week before Abbey Road itself! In this video, we take a look at a selection of Abbey Road covers released around the time of the original album, and we'll also look at how record companies were able to get hold of Beatles songs before the general public, why publishers had a financial incentive to have other artists cover them, and some of the fascinating stories behind these often obscure records. And yes... some of these versions are considerably stranger than others. Thanks for watching!
