How Police Captured The Killer Hiding Inside A Texas Church #truecrimecommunity #truecrime #truecrimestory #PoliceBodycam A 25-year-old woman disappears during an evening walk in the small town of May, Texas. Two days later, search volunteers discover Shante Blankenship brutally murdered at an abandoned farmhouse nearly 25 miles away. What follows is a chilling investigation filled with suspicious boyfriends, secret relationships, DNA evidence, a failed polygraph, and a killer hiding in plain sight. Police initially focused on several men close to Shante, including her boyfriend John Adams, Colin Smith, and Bobby Sosa. But when DNA testing cleared all three, the investigation went cold. More than a year later, investigators turned to an emerging forensic technology known as DNA phenotyping. The resulting facial prediction pointed investigators toward 21-year-old Ryan Riggs — a longtime family friend who had participated in the search, attended Shante’s funeral, comforted her grieving family, and remained close to the case from the beginning. Then Ryan suddenly disappeared. What happened next stunned the entire community. During a church service, Ryan appeared with his mother and confessed to Pastor Ron Keener that he had murdered Shante. He was taken to the sheriff’s office, where his confession revealed crime-scene details that had never been made public. Ryan Riggs later pleaded guilty to capital murder and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. This true crime documentary explores the investigation, interrogation, forensic DNA breakthrough, suspicious persons of interest, and shocking confession that finally solved the murder of Shante Blankenship. What do you think was the biggest clue that exposed Ryan Riggs? Could investigators have identified him earlier without DNA phenotyping?
