Description

Cops Open Bedroom Door, Find 3 Young Kids Trapped in Mom’s House of Horrors #truecrimecommunity#truecrime #truecrimestory #PoliceBodycam A late-night 911 call reporting disturbing screams led deputies to a Florida home—and what they discovered inside raised immediate concerns for three young children. When officers arrived at the home of Christina Coe and Gilbert Bridewell, they found piles of trash outside, an overwhelming stench, and two very young children apparently locked inside a room. But the situation became even more disturbing once deputies entered the house. Inside, officers encountered severe unsanitary conditions, trash throughout the home, insect infestation, and drug paraphernalia that appeared accessible around the property. Christina had also given birth only five days earlier, raising further concerns about the newborn and the safety of all three children. As deputies questioned Christina and Gilbert, Florida’s Department of Children and Families (DCF) was called to investigate. Authorities ultimately determined that the children could not safely remain inside the home. Both parents were arrested, while the children were removed and placed in safer care. Christina Coe and Gilbert Bridewell were initially charged with three felony counts of child neglect each. Those charges were later reduced to a misdemeanor count of contributing to delinquency. But the case raised another troubling question. Christina claimed that a case worker had visited the property only one day earlier and said the home simply needed more cleaning. If that account was accurate, how did the situation become serious enough for another case worker to remove the children less than 24 hours later? What do you think—should Christina and Gilbert have faced more serious consequences for the conditions inside the home? And did the system fail to recognize the warning signs sooner?
