With help from the men of the village, the women on the high pasture prepare to move camp. Palkit packs everything onto her yaks: the tent, blankets, cooking pots, and the valuable jars of yoghurt and milk that sustain life in the mountains. The move reveals the practical realities of pastoral life at altitude, where an entire household must travel with the herd. But the journey does not go smoothly. The yaks are difficult to control, the loads shift, and some of Palkit’s carefully packed provisions do not survive the trip intact. It is a vivid ethnographic glimpse of mobility, cooperation, and everyday resilience in the high pastures.
