Description

This is one of the very first videos I ever put up on my channel. It still is a favorite here almost weekly. I just wanted to re-share it. Looking for the ultimate nostalgic treat? These classic No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies are a family recipe passed down directly from my grandma! Growing up, this was my absolute favorite cookie, and today I’m making a batch for my own family. They are soft, chocolatey, rich, and so easy to whip up—no oven required! If you love simple, classic homemade recipes that bring back great memories, you’re going to adore this one. Recipe: Here is the classic, foolproof recipe for traditional no-bake chocolate oatmeal cookies: Grandma's Classic No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies Prep time: 10 minutes Yield: Approx. 20–24 cookies Ingredients 2 cups granulated sugar ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter ½ cup milk ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder ½ cup creamy peanut butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 cups quick-cooking oats (or rolled oats) ¼ teaspoon salt (optional) Instructions Prep your surface: Line one large baking sheets or your countertop with parchment paper or wax paper. Boil the base: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, butter, milk, and cocoa powder. Bring the mixture to a full rolling boil, stirring frequently. Time the boil: Once it reaches a full rolling boil, set a timer and let it boil for exactly 1 minute and 30 seconds (stirring continuously). Add flavorings: Remove the saucepan from the heat immediately. Stir in the peanut butter, vanilla extract, and salt until completely smooth and melted. Fold in oats: Add the quick oats and stir until every bit of oats is thoroughly coated in the chocolate mixture. Scoop & cool: Working quickly, drop tablespoon-sized spoonfuls of the mixture onto your prepared parchment paper. Set: Allow the cookies to cool at room temperature for about 20–30 minutes until firm and set. Pro Tips for Success Timing is Key: Start timing the 1-minute 30 second boil only when the entire surface is covered in active bubbles. Boiling too short leaves them soft/sticky; boiling too long makes them crumbly. Quick Oats vs. Rolled Oats: Quick-cooking oats absorb the liquid better and yield a softer texture, but traditional rolled oats work fine if you prefer a chewier cookie.
