Description

Picture a Viking and you probably see horns. There is little evidence any Viking ever wore them. According to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, helmets used by Viking warriors were usually conical or hemispherical, and a number of them had a bar protecting the nose. Horned helmets did exist, but in the Bronze Age, around the 12th or 11th century BC, including in Scandinavia. Horns became popular again as crests on helmets from about 1250. Neither period matches the Viking raids of the late 8th to late 11th century. Did you picture the horns? Animated history for educational purposes. Source: Dirk H. Breiding, "Arms and Armor: Common Misconceptions and Frequently Asked Questions", The Metropolitan Museum of Art. #shorts #history #vikings #vikinghelmet #hornedhelmet #mythbusting #bronzeage #medieval #militaryhistory #historyfacts #animation
