Why Is a Tank Called a Tank? #shorts #history

The word "tank" started as a disguise. According to Imperial War Museums, the name came from British attempts to keep the new weapon secret under the guise of water tanks. The Royal Navy led the early development: Winston Churchill, then First Lord of the Admiralty, set up the Landships Committee in early 1915. Tanks first went into combat at the Battle of Flers-Courcelette on 15 September 1916. Of the 49 deployed, only 25 moved forward at the start of the attack. The early machines were slow and unreliable, but the name stayed. What would you have called it? Animated history for educational purposes.
