Description

Tesla ran this at SpaceX's rocket test site in McGregor, Texas, on the night of October 15. The Roadster climbed a curved wall to a 170 degree pitch, kicked itself over a line of parked Teslas including a Semi and a Cybercab, then flipped beside a tower and landed on its wheels. Telemetry put the jump at around 7 metres. How it gets up there: two compressed air tanks, roughly 600 litres holding 250kg of air, feeding 10 nozzles. No combustion, no fuel. Tesla claims over 80 kilonewtons of thrust, and the exhaust leaves fast enough to show Mach diamonds. What that buys is burst, not cruise. Cold gas has a specific impulse measured in tens of seconds where rockets get hundreds, so outside estimates put a full tank at roughly one second of hover. Short hops, enormous ones. It also ran 0 to 96 km/h in 0.81 seconds on a live run. Production is targeted at 2028, no price was given, and the thrusters aren't road legal anywhere yet. Musk on why they did it live: "We need an audience to prove that it's not AI." 🔎 We fact-checked 10 expert AI predictions so you know whose calls are worth listening to. It's free in channel bio.
