Description

Representative John Garamendi opens a congressional hearing with a message for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth: the troops performed, but the strategy behind the Iran war was, in his words, astounding incompetence. Sixty days in. Thirteen Americans killed in action. Gas prices, he says, up 40%. By his account, critical munitions are running low, with forces pulled away from the Pacific and Ukraine support. His question is simple. What did America gain? Garamendi says Iran's regime is still standing, its missile and drone forces intact, and its enriched uranium stockpile still in place. Then he accuses Hegseth and the president of misleading the public about why the war started and how it is going. A fellow member objects, and the chairman steps in.
