I’m not buying ribeye every time anymore—not after learning about chuck eye steak.
Chuck eye comes from right next to the rib section and contains some of the same muscle that makes ribeye so good, but it can often cost considerably less. In this video, I’ll show you what makes this overlooked butcher’s cut special, how it compares to ribeye, what to look for when buying it, and how I cook it so you get a tender, juicy steak without paying premium steakhouse prices.
Now, chuck eye isn’t identical to ribeye, and prices will depend on where you shop. But when I can find a good chuck eye at the right price, I’m taking a hard look at it before spending ribeye money.
Sometimes the best cut in the meat case isn’t the most expensive one—it’s the one most people walk right past.
If you grew up learning little tricks like this from butchers, parents, grandparents, or old-school cooks, tell me what they taught you in the comments.
