We Spent $22K Restoring a Classic Nissan Y31 — Finding Parts Was the REAL Challenge!

This classic Nissan Y31 arrived at our restoration shop with one mission: bring it back as close to its original condition as possible. The owner wanted to relive childhood memories, and money was not the main concern. The real challenge was finding parts for a nearly 40-year-old car that is no longer easy to support. We completely dismantled the vehicle, separated the body from the chassis, and began restoring the engine, transmission, and undercarriage. Rusted bolts and chassis components were cleaned, sandblasted, and refinished. The body was stripped to bare metal, repaired, primed, and repainted with premium automotive paint. The interior required just as much care. With original parts increasingly difficult to find, we sourced rare components, used suitable salvage parts where necessary, and carefully recreated the original upholstery and trim. This project demanded patience, craftsmanship, and months of effort. The goal was not to modernize the car, but to preserve its original character.
