Description

In a House hearing, Rep. Madeleine Dean questions Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche under oath about the Epstein files, the redactions, and whether the Justice Department is doing enough for survivors. Dean opens with the closing words of Virginia Giuffre's memoir, then asks when the department will release the remaining documents required by the Epstein Files Transparency Act. She holds up pages about potential co-conspirators that she says are blacked out, raises Blanche's earlier work as the president's lawyer, and asks whether his first obligation is to the victims or to the president. Blanche responds that the department has complied with the law, that victim information must be redacted, and that it will prosecute anyone it can. Watch the exchange, then hear my analysis of what the law actually requires and why this hearing matters for oversight. This video contains commentary and analysis of public congressional footage.
