Description
If nothing in your cart feels fancy and you still can't say where the grocery money goes, start here: https://tsukamotoledger.com
The Ledger gives the food money its own part of the book, from the kitchen's ledger page to the freezer manifest, the two places a price per use finally becomes visible.
421 pages, 86 chapters, every claim sourced. $47 early-bird, 30-day refund.
I grew up in a Japanese house. I've now lived in America longer than I lived in Japan.
Everyone assumes a Japanese kitchen is cheaper to run because Japanese mothers are disciplined. It isn't discipline. The convenience premium is printed per package, in the smallest type on the shelf, and my mother's kitchen runs on a notebook that makes the price per use hard to miss.
Seven everyday lines on an American grocery receipt, judged on cost and waste only: what each one costs per use, and what she carries home instead. The seventh goes into her basket every single week, and it explains the other six.
And the honest part: convenience buys time and access, and if your hands hurt when you hold a knife, the cut vegetables are worth every cent. Japan runs fifty-six thousand convenience stores of its own, and her house is not all of Japan.
This channel explains systems and habits. It isn't financial advice — for your own money decisions, talk to a financial adviser who knows your situation.
If you make it to the end, leave one word in the comments: done. And tell me which item in your cart surprised you most when you finally did the division.
For the house those habits live in — that's my main channel, Two Houses: @kentsukamoto
