Thousands of flights go out every day, and the number of deliveries doubles every year. In America, Amazon is still fighting for permission to drop a cardboard box in a back garden. China is not ahead because the engineering is better. It decided, in writing, that the airspace between the ground and one kilometre is an industry. It gave that industry a name, a budget, and handed a single company a nationwide licence to fly cargo over every city in the country. Then there is the hardware. One company in Shenzhen sells 70% of the drones on earth. China makes roughly 90% of the magnets that spin every drone motor in the world, including the American ones. In this video I explain how Beijing took the sky, why losing money on every single flight is the whole point, and what happens to the rest of us when the aircraft above our cities are the only ones anybody can still buy. #Drones #China #Shenzhen
