Rúnar Nam Ek (I Learned The Runes) | Old Norse Viking Music | Norse Mythology

“Rúnar Nam Ek” means “I Learned the Runes.” This song draws from the myth of Odin hanging upon the world tree for nine nights, wounded by the spear, seeking the hidden power of the runes through sacrifice, pain and vision. The track carries a dark Nordic ritual feeling, built around ancient atmosphere, deep vocals and a strong mythic pulse. It is made for listeners drawn to Viking music, Old Norse poetry, Norse mythology and the sacred mystery of the runes. No one gave me bread nor horn, no one came, I hung alone. Runes, runes, runes I learned. Down in the darkness I saw them. Runes, runes, runes I learned. My blood called, they came nearer. The wind bit hard, the ash tree shook, the root sang with a dead voice. I gave myself to myself, I broke fear, hunger and thirst. Runes, runes, runes I learned. Down in the darkness I saw them. Runes, runes, runes I learned. My blood called, they came nearer. Nine nights. Nine wounds. One eye sees. One god receives an answer. Runes, runes, runes I learned. Down in the darkness I saw them. Runes, runes, runes I learned. From death I took power and path. If you enjoyed this song, please subscribe to @runesofthenorth for more Viking music and Old Norse songs.
