Description

Last November I watched a woman put $14 worth of collard greens back at the register. Six weeks earlier, those same greens were half the price in the freezer case. My grandmother, Big Mama, had her pantry shelf full by Halloween every year. One winter, that October shelf fed 9 of us for 6 weeks when she had $11to her name. In this video I'm passing down the 12 foods Black families have always stocked up on before October ends. For each one, I'll show you the overpriced grocery item it replaces and how much the swap saves you. Three of these swaps alone add up to more than $1,500 a year. Being careful with money is nothing to be ashamed of. It's an inheritance. What did your grandmother always keep on her shelf? Tell me in the comments, and tell me what she called it, too. #FrugalLiving #PantryStaples #GrocerySavings
