Something About Ohio's Octagon Earthworks No Longer Makes Sense

#ancienthistory #archaeology #nativeamerican It sits in the middle of a city in central Ohio, forty miles east of Columbus. Eight walls of packed earth, each one five hundred fifty feet long and six feet high, form a perfect octagon connected by a walled corridor to a circle nearly one thousand fifty-four feet across. Together they enclose more than fifty acres. The Octagon is large enough to swallow four Roman Colosseums. The Great Pyramid of Giza fits neatly inside the circle. And for more than a hundred years, if you wanted to stand inside it, you had to be a member of a private golf club.
