Description
**Have you spent time with God today?**
**SAINT JOHN PAUL II — BE NOT AFRAID**
*Feast Day: October 22*
He survived war, endured personal tragedy, stood against oppression, and forgave the man who tried to kill him.
This is the extraordinary life of Saint John Paul II, born Karol Wojtyła in Poland, whose faith and courage would touch millions around the world.
From his childhood in Wadowice through the darkness of Nazi occupation, his secret preparation for the priesthood, and his courageous defense of religious freedom under communist rule, his journey was one of unwavering trust in God.
Elected pope in 1978, John Paul II carried his message of hope across continents. After surviving an assassination attempt in 1981, he demonstrated the meaning of Christian forgiveness by visiting his attacker in prison.
His historic return to Poland and his remarkable connection with young Catholics, including the enormous gathering at World Youth Day in Manila in 1995, inspired generations.
On April 27, 2014, Pope Francis canonized John Paul II alongside Pope John XXIII.
His enduring message remains:
