Adult marmosets weigh only about 100 grams, making a tiny infant fit comfortably around a human finger. Observing these miniature primates reveals remarkable adaptations that allow tiny creatures to thrive high in tropical tree canopies. Pygmy marmosets possess specialized lower incisors that allow them to gnaw precise holes in tree bark. This unique dental structure lets them harvest tree sap and resin, which forms a major portion of their daily diet alongside small insects. To navigate forest branches safely, these tiny primates feature sharp claw like nails called tegulae on almost every digit. These specialized claws provide extraordinary grip, enabling them to cling vertically to broad trunks and leap impressive distances relative to their small body size. #NatureIsWild #Animals #Insects #Wildlife #Shorts
