Description
Would you restore a forgotten 2008 Jaguar XJ6L if the reward was a Nissan GT-R?
That’s the challenge in this build.
This long-wheelbase Jaguar arrived with years of neglect written all over it. Oxidized chrome trim, peeling paint, a sagging headliner, rusty fasteners, worn suspension components, oil leaks and harsh transmission engagement made the car look far worse up close than it did from a distance.
The suspension alone was a serious project. The video mentions six front control arms and four rear arms, with a quoted cost of about $1,490 per control arm. If all ten were priced that way, the parts alone would total roughly $14,900.
We completely stripped the interior and body, sandblasted and refinished components, repaired the aluminum body, restored the paint, rebuilt the suspension and investigated the transmission.
The engine itself was inspected and fortunately showed no major internal problems.
After extensive chassis tuning, wiring cleanup, cavity-wax protection and interior restoration, this once-neglected Jaguar finally started looking like a true luxury sedan again.
And at the end of the story, there’s another car waiting in the background — a Maybach 62 S.
Was this Jaguar worth saving?
