Description
⚡ New York, nineteen hundred: inside the East Houston Street laboratory of Nikola Tesla, where artificial lightning is being summoned on a bench top, wireless lamps light without any visible wire, and the vision of transmitting energy across the entire planet is being drafted for J. P. Morgan. An AI reconstruction built from historical studies and historical records of the Edwardian city at the turn of the twentieth century.
🏛️ This documentary follows Tesla at the age of forty-four, fresh from his Colorado Springs experimental station and drafting the contract that will fund the Wardenclyffe Tower on Long Island. The reconstruction visits the Houston Street laboratory with its tall Tesla coils, resonant transformers, oscillators, vacuum tubes and precision instruments; it then moves to the Waldorf-Astoria at Fifth Avenue and Thirty-Fourth Street, where Tesla lived during these years in meticulous solitude.
📜 Around the inventor, the documentary reconstructs the New York of nearly three and a half million people, with its elevated railways, horse-drawn carriages, Edwardian frock coats and silk top hats, the subway dig beginning in front of City Hall in March of that year, and the great electrical rivalry of Edison, Westinghouse and Marconi. Tesla's own writings — My Inventions and The Problem of Increasing Human Energy, Century Magazine, June nineteen hundred — anchor the reconstruction in his documented voice.
