Description

📕 Get The Lunch Lady's Home Cleaning Handbook, every method in this video written down with the amounts, in the order you would really do them: https://doriscleans.com There was a year your dishwasher got worse, and you have blamed yourself for it ever since. You started running it twice. You started rinsing everything first. You decided the machine was going, or you were loading it wrong. It was none of that. In the summer of 2010 the soap changed. Not one brand. Every brand at once, across the whole country, and nobody put a note in the box. Here's the two minute version. One ingredient came out of household dishwasher detergent, and it had been doing two jobs, not one. Everybody knows the first job, lifting food off the plate. The second job was stopping that food landing back on, and nothing really replaced it. That thin grey film on your glasses is your own dinner, put back. In this one I give you the month it happened, why your state's rules didn't matter, the reason the machine in my kitchen kept working three more years after yours stopped, the thing you are doing every night that makes it worse, and the filter in your dishwasher that nobody ever showed you. I'm Mrs. Doris. Thirty-five years behind a school lunch line in Scioto County, Ohio, four hundred children a day on a dollar and five cents a tray. I show you what actually works, I tell you where it stops, and I say so when the common advice has it wrong. TONIGHT, FOUR MINUTES - Open the dishwasher and look at the floor of it, in the middle, under the bottom rack. A round cap that turns, or a flat plate with a mesh around it. That is a filter. - Turn it counterclockwise and lift the whole thing out. Hot water, a soft brush, dish soap. - Put it back and make sure it seats and LOCKS. A filter that isn't locked lets debris into the pump, so check it before you run a load. - Then stop rinsing your plates. Scrape the solids off, leave the rest, and let the machine have something to do. - And fill the rinse aid reservoir, the little flap next to the detergent cup. It isn't soap. It breaks the surface tension so water sheets off instead of drying in place, and drying in place is exactly what your spots are. IS IT THE MACHINE AFTER ALL? HERE'S HOW YOU TELL Do the filter and the scrape, run one load, and look at the top rack against the bottom. If the bottom comes out right and the top is still bad, that is water not getting up there, and that is a repair, not a habit. If both racks improve together, it was never the machine. WHAT I USED - New York State's phosphate rules: household automatic dishwasher detergent restricted from 14 August 2010, commercial dishwashing detergent not until 1 July 2013 - Maryland, the same date for commercial product, at a maximum of 0.5 percent phosphorus - The seventeen states that restricted household dishwasher detergent in July 2010, and the manufacturers' decision to reformulate nationwide rather than run separate production The first two reasons a dishwasher stops cleaning are water that isn't hot enough and water that can't reach the plate, and those have their own video on this channel. So tell me whether your filter had ever been out before. And tell me what county you're in, because your water decides how much of this you've been living with. #dishwasher #cleaningtips #kitchentips #oldschoolcleaning
