Description

📕 Get The Lunch Lady's Home Cleaning Handbook, every method in this video written down with the amounts, in the order you would really do them: https://doriscleans.com A woman came in the back door of my kitchen in the spring with a pan held out in front of her, foil over the top, still warm underneath, and I had to tell her no. That was my job for thirty-five years. I was the one who had to say no to a gift. So when I tell you what happens to the bag you leave at a donation door, I am not guessing. There are rules back there that nobody explains to you, and not one of them is about how nice your thing is. There is one question underneath all seven of these: CAN THE PERSON RECEIVING THIS PUT IT STRAIGHT OUT, EXACTLY AS IT ARRIVES, WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING TO IT FIRST? That is the entire rule. It is not a judgement about quality and it is not a judgement about you. It is a question about whether there is a task attached. AND THE THREE HONEST EXCEPTIONS - A place that specifically advertises for repairs. A tool library, a workshop. A lamp with a loose switch is a genuinely useful thing to bring them, because fixing it is the work they chose. - Plain things that were never a set. A single plate is a plate. A single lid is nothing. - A named need. Winter coats when a church asks for winter coats. School shoes in August. When somebody is standing there waiting for exactly that thing, the rules go quiet, and all seven of my items are about the general bag, not the asked-for one. Then, after the seven, the part I actually came to say. You are allowed to throw things away. Not the things you love and not the things you would use. The other ones. I tell you why you have been loading them into the car instead, and what the generous act actually is. I'm Mrs. Doris. Thirty-five years behind a school lunch line in Scioto County, Ohio, four hundred children a day on a dollar and five cents a tray. I show you what actually works, I tell you where it stops, and I say so when the common advice has it wrong. TONIGHT, FOUR MINUTES - Go to the bag in your hall. - Do not sort the whole thing. - Pull out only the items with marks on them. - Those go out on Tuesday with everything else. - What is left is a real donation, and it will be a better donation for not being mixed in with the first half. WHAT I USED Nothing but the building. This video quotes no agency, no study and no figure that needs a source. Every number in it is a year, an age or a count: thirty-five years, four hundred children a day, nineteen ninety-four, eleven years, nine years ago, three classes, one hour on a line. The rules I describe are the rules I worked under in a kitchen that got inspected whether I felt like it or not, and the sorting rules at a donation door are what I saw from the receiving end of a counter for thirty-five years. Where something is my own practice rather than anybody's policy, I say so in the video. Two things this video is NOT. It is not an argument against donating, and I say that out loud. And it does not name a single organisation, because the rules I am describing are not one place's rules, they are what a room with a table and a bin can and cannot do. So come and tell me the worst thing you have ever quietly taken to a donation door, because I showed you mine and I would like the company. And tell me what county you are in, because I read every one. #declutter #donatingtips #housework #oldschoolcleaning
