Description

If there is an old pocket watch sitting in a drawer somewhere in your family, one that belonged to your grandfather or great-grandfather and has not ticked in decades, there is a real chance it is worth far more than anyone in your family ever guessed. In this video I am focusing on one watch in particular, the Hamilton 992B, an American railroad grade pocket watch carried by thousands of conductors and engineers because it had to meet strict accuracy standards to keep the trains running on time. I am Roy Danforth, and for thirty-eight years I have been buying and pricing estate sales, flea markets and antique mall booths across the Ohio Valley and the Midwest, and I have lost count of how many of these have turned up in cigar boxes and dresser drawers, dismissed as an old broken watch nobody bothered to wind. I will be honest with you upfront, a plain, common 992B in worn condition is not going to retire anyone, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. But specific case materials, working condition, the original box and papers, and a handful of scarcer configurations change that picture completely, sometimes by a factor of ten or more. I will show you exactly what to check, the case back, the movement number, the dial, so you know within a minute what you are actually holding. Do not have it cleaned, do not have it polished, until you have gone through this with me. If this is useful, consider subscribing, because I go through a new find like this every week. And stay to the end, because I will tell you about the one configuration that collectors specifically hunt for, and what it has actually sold for.
