Description

This cheesy oven dinner is crispy outside, juicy inside, and filled with creamy loaded potatoes and melted cheese. Juicy ground meat is shaped into a cozy baked dinner, wrapped with crispy bacon, and filled with mashed potatoes, mushrooms, onions, Parmesan, Cheddar and Mozzarella. It bakes until golden and comforting, with crispy bacon outside and a soft cheesy potato filling inside. This is the kind of easy family dinner that feels special, but uses simple ingredients. Ground meat, potatoes, cheese, mushrooms, onions and bacon turn into a big comfort food meal that looks beautiful when sliced. Served with a fresh arugula, pear, walnut and Parmesan salad with a quick balsamic-Dijon dressing to balance the richness. Customize it! Use ground beef, pork, turkey, chicken, or a beef and pork mix like I did. Any good melting cheese works - Cheddar, Mozzarella, Gouda, Monterey Jack, Provolone. No torch? Use convection or broil for the last few minutes. ⏱ Timestamps: 0:00 Seasoned ground meat 1:12 Boiling the potatoes 1:48 Golden mushroom & onion filling 3:41 Wrapping the bacon bowls 4:39 Creamy loaded mashed potatoes 6:48 Shaping the juicy meat domes 7:21 Cheesy melty center 8:24 Stuffing & sealing the domes 9:11 Into the oven - 425°F / 220°C 9:41 Crispy torched bacon finish 🔥 10:19 Fresh arugula, pear & walnut salad 12:28 Plating up 13:06 The first juicy bite 😋 🔔 New recipes every week: https://youtube.com/@YumCult 👍 Like if you enjoyed! Where are you watching from? 🌎👇 🛒 Ingredients: Kitchen Info: Makes: 2 cheesy oven dinner domes Bowls used: about 5 in / 12 cm wide and 2.5 in / 6.5 cm deep Oven: 425°F / 220°C for 25-35 min About 30 min worked perfectly for me. If using a thermometer, check the meat wall for ~160°F / 71°C. For the Meat: 1.3 lb / 600 g ground meat, beef and pork mix 1 egg 1.5 tsp smoked paprika 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp salt 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Black pepper to taste 3 tbsp breadcrumbs 2 tbsp milk For the Bacon Wrap: Thin-cut bacon, about 10 slices total Extra small pieces if needed to patch gaps For the Potato Filling: ~14 oz / 400 g potatoes 1 tsp salt for boiling ~2 tbsp / 30 g melted butter ~3 tbsp / 50 ml milk 4 tbsp finely grated Parmesan A few green onions, sliced For the Mushroom Mix: 1 onion, diced ~7 oz / 200 g mushrooms, diced 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 tbsp oil 1 tbsp butter 1/2 tsp chili flakes 1 tsp dried thyme 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Salt and pepper to taste For the Cheese: ~1 oz / 30 g shredded Cheddar ~2 oz / 60 g shredded Mozzarella Or any good melting cheese Fresh Side Salad: Fresh arugula 1 small pear, thinly sliced Toasted walnuts Shaved Parmesan or blue cheese Balsamic Dressing: 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 1.5 tbsp balsamic vinegar 1 tsp Dijon mustard 1 tsp honey Salt and pepper 📝 Quick Instructions: Meat mixture: Combine ground meat, egg, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, breadcrumbs and milk. Mix well, cover and refrigerate while you make the filling. Potatoes: Cut potatoes into even pieces, cover with cold water, add salt and boil until tender. Drain and let steam dry. Mushrooms: Cook onion in oil and butter until soft. Add mushrooms and cook on high heat until the liquid is gone and they turn golden. Add garlic, chili flakes, thyme and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper, then remove from heat. Filling: Mash potatoes with butter and milk. Add mushroom mixture, Parmesan and green onions. Mix well. Bacon bowls: Stretch thin bacon slices gently with a spatula or the back of a knife. Line each bowl with bacon, crossing the slices over the center and letting the ends hang over the edge. Shape: Add half the meat mixture to each bowl. Press into the bottom and sides, leaving a deep well. Save a piece of meat for the lid. Stuff: Add cheese to the bottom, then pack in the potato filling. Top with the meat lid and seal the edges. Wrap: Fold bacon ends over the top and close the dome. Bake: Turn out onto a rack over a foil-lined tray. Bake at 425°F / 220°C for 25-35 min. About 30 min worked perfectly for me. Finish: Torch for extra color and crunch, or use convection/broil briefly. Do not overdo it - keep the meat juicy. If using a thermometer, check the meat wall, not the filling. Rest: Let rest 10-15 min before cutting. Salad: Add arugula, pear, walnuts and Parmesan. Shake dressing ingredients in a jar and drizzle to taste.
