2027 Medicare Open Enrollment is here (Oct 15 – Dec 7), and retirees are opening their plan letters: Medicare Advantage plans cancelled, drug-plan premiums jumping, supplement bills up by double digits. Here's what's really changing — and how people are paying less. The letters went out by September 30. And this year the shock isn't Part B, which is projected to rise just $6.60. It's the drug plans: UnitedHealthcare's AARP-branded Preferred plan goes from about $124 to $206 a month on average, more than the entire $75 Social Security raise. There won't be a single $0-premium standalone drug plan in 2027. Humana is ending plans that cover about 600,000 members, 638,000 people live in counties with no regular Advantage drug plan next year, and dental and Part B give-backs are being cut.
