Description

They bought the RV for freedom. Then the floor went soft in two weeks, the warranty repair took eight months to schedule, and the best offer on a motorhome with $43,000 still owed was $25,000. In 2021, America shipped a record 600,240 RVs. In 2026, the industry expects about half that. Today we go through what happened to the people who bought at the top: the rigs that broke before the first trip was over, the 15- and 20-year loans that outlast the RV, what $6 diesel and $72-a-night campsites really cost, the retirees and working people living in RVs because rent didn't leave a choice, and the people who made RV life work. For many working Americans, RV living was supposed to be an escape from a housing market they could no longer afford. But now, Americans who can't afford houses, can't afford to retire, and are struggling with the rising cost of living are discovering they can't afford RVs either. What was once sold as financial freedom is becoming another debt trap, raising a bigger question: how are ordinary Americans supposed to afford to live anymore? This channel covers what's really happening to working Americans' money. Subscribe, and tell me in the comments: have you ever owned an RV, and would you buy one again? Not financial or legal advice. Creator clips are short excerpts used for commentary, and each one is credited on screen.
