Lies of P and the Illusion of the Parry

Lies of P looks like any other Soulslike with a Sekiro parry, but it actually uses that muscle memory against the player. Watch me break down the game's "illusion of the parry" and how the developers are constantly shifting the strategies you'll need to succeed. When I started Lies of P and walked into Krat as a FromSoftware veteran, I thought my Sekiro parrying expertise would carry me to victory. But, as soon as I walked into the ring with the Scrapped Watchman, I realized that this game is far more complicated than that. Because, unlike a lot of Soulslike games, there is not one rigid playstyle that can carry you to victory. In Lies of P, to take down the toughest fights like Romeo and the King of Puppets, you need to adapt.
